| 11-18-09 It's been a really long time since we've updated the website, let alone written anything here... First of all Shawn has left Untamed Highway. So the UH that you have come to know and love has come to a dead halt. They had part of issue 4 drawn, but it was coming along so slowly, then with Shawn quitting, issue 4 just never got finished... We're not sure if we might use some of this art or just move on. Noah still has plans to continue on with the comic, being that it is his story and idea to begin with. But not having a penciller to do half the work, will make the process a lot longer. Noah really loves the story though, and has definite goals to finish it, either as a published comic, graphic novel, or an ongoing story through a magazine. On another note, Noah is also working on a new comic of his own. A quirky kids story reminiscent of the John Stanley and Harvey Comics of the 1950's and 60's. A whimsical yet mysterious tale of a little kid named Colonel Wilbur and his adventures with a talking shrunken head, a Tiki robot, and a bottomless cereal bowl... Check back in 2010 to see what has come of this adventure! 06-15-07 We were the featured artists at Fright Night at the C.I.A. in Hollywood again this month. It was a blast, a bit of a slow night, but everyone there was really cool! The band "The Mad Marionettes" rocked the club with their instrument switching, Russian dancing, and twisted antics. And the two movies, "CalTiki" and "The Wild Women of Wongo" were pretty fun too! It'll be very sad to see Fright Night end, but luckily the C.I.A. will still be there. Jenn got some great pictures this time, of us and the C.I.A. and more. ~ Click here to check them out! ~ And come to the RATFINK Party at the L.A.C.R. in Palmdale next month!! We'll be there, comics in hand!! (more news about that to come) 04-23-07 As you can see Issue #3 has arrived! You can check out more about it here. We are hard at work on Issue 4 already. Noah has almost completed the script, and then the drawing madness will commence. Stay Tuned! 11-02-06 Sorry we haven't updated in a while! It's been a busy year. We did a few events...check out the pictures below! ~ First of all, here are some pictures from our trip to Fright Night at the CIA in Hollywood, where we were the featured artists back in Feb. ~ We also had a table at Moldy Marvin's Ratfink Party, back in July '06, but sadly we forgot our camera.... :( ~ We had a table at the Tiki Invasion in August '06 too, and this time we brought our camera. Here are some pics from that fun event! ~ Of course, in the midst of all the partying we have been drawing like madmen. We've done a couple of short stories, one for Counter Culture Comics, one for Monster Shindig and an upcoming Jimmy Groynn strip for HRW magazine. And a ton of logos and album covers and whatnot. The freelance art we've done can be viewed on the new "Freelance Art" page. Of course, the question in everyone's minds is "When the F*%^&k is Untamed Highway #3 coming out." Well, as of this writing we have 5 pages left, not counting inside and outside covers. So, if all goes well, the next issue should be available sometime early next year. We will be doing preorders a month or so before it comes out, and we will keep everyone updated. 2-21-06 We have new merchandise!! An all new Tee Shirt featuring Anna and Irving the Tiki, and stickers featuring Irving. Click here to check it out!! In other news - Our art show at the C.I.A. went really well!! We met a lot of great and interesting people, along with selling some comics, shirts and art! Thanks to all of you who came out specifically to see us! We will post some pictures on our website soon from this fun event! We'll also be making a couple more appearances this year, at the Rat Fink Party in July and at Will the Thrill's Spook Show in October. Stay tuned for further developments! 1-17-06 We are going to be the featured artists at Fright Night next month!! This'll be a great night of two Horror B-Movies; Freaks, Shrunken Heads and Petrified Body Parts on display; and a garage rock/gothic band; all in the classic Horror Movie Theatre Experience. AND you can win a Dead Body! If you haven't been to the C.I.A., you have to see it! Plus you'll be able to meet us and see some of our original art from Untamed Highway, the Hexxers comic, and a new monster comic we're working on; see some prints and original paintings by Shawn and I; or buy a tee-shirt, stickers, and more! Hope to see you there! 11-02-05 The "Hexxers" Limited Edition Comic plus Live CD is available now on our website. Click here for more info! 10-29-05 We had a book signing today at Borders Book store in Orange, CA.. This was for a release of the Brand new "Hexxers" Comic plus Live CD that Shawn and I had the pleasure of co-creating. The show was great, Rip, guitarist from the "Hexxers" played with his High School Garage Rock band "The Washouts" in a rare So -Cal performance. They hadn't played since 1996! Then the "Hexxers" came on, blasting away Grandmas and horrified women with baby strollers, as if they were deer caught in the headlights of a souped up hot rod with Ratfink at the wheel. This performance was such an awesome contrast to the stark silence that we walked in upon when we first arrived. The book signing was cool, it was Shawn and my first. We met a few fans and made some new ones. We hope to set up something similar in the future! 8-05 The comic is here! Issue #2 looks fantastic and is now available! We are now working on a comic for the Garage Punk band the "Hexxers"! This should be available by Halloween. We'll keep you posted. 7-8-05 We're patiently awaiting the return of Issue #2 of Untamed Highway from the printers. It should be here in about two weeks. Preorder it now! This issue continues the story of Sydney Drake, a shmoe who stumbles upon the workings of a Secret Society, The Eye in the Wasteland. We catch up with him as he travels along the Highway with an old Silent Movie Star, in search of the elusive Alligator Boy, Adam. He was sent out to retrieve this by the Society, and if he fails, he will lose his left foot. Order Issue #2 and find out what happens!! 5-1-05 Check out our shirts for Java's Bachelor Pad. JBP is one of our favorite sites, and Java has commissioned us to do two different designs for him. One is an Exotic World shirt with a burlesque design, which can be purchased at Javas website. We also did a swank tiki design which Java put on Shirts as well as a lot of other merchandise like coffee mugs, etc. You can get these on Java's Cafe Press site. In Untamed Highway news, we are about 5 pages away from finishing #2(not counting covers, editorials, etc) We're hoping for a finished product by August. Also, Untamed Highway is now on MySpace. Add us, if you wish! 3-7-05 Hey everyone! Things have been busy here at Untamed Highway headquarters. In addition to working on the 2nd issue of Untamed Highway, (which is due for a mid-summer release), we have been swamped with some really cool side projects. As of February, we've been doing a monthly, full color, one page comic for Rockabilly Monthly magazine. The comic strip features Syd's favorite musician, Jimmy Groynn. It is, if anything, even zanier than Untamed Highway, and features absolutely beautiful watercolor work by Shawn. So far we have an installment in the February and March '05 issues. You can order copies at Rockabillymonthly.com We have also been working on a comic for the vinyl release of "Freaks with the Savage Beat" by the amazing garage rock band the Hexxers, on Golly Gee records. This comic will feature savages, shrunken heads, tikis, and lots of outrageous characters. We are in pre-production now, but will notify everyone when it's done. You must buy this album, not just for the comic, but because the Hexxers are one of the most amazing bands to come out in recent years. Their stuff makes me think of The Sonics, early Pretty Things, and Back from the Grave Comps, but with a slight hillbilly twist. Very exciting to be working for such a cool band! We are also designing a line of work shirts for ZomboWorld.com. Zombo is a very cool DJ who plays stuff ranging from Spike Jones to Las Vegas Grind, to K-Mart instructional tapes. These shirts will feature Tikis, pin-up chicks, beatniks and monsters. They will be available here, as well as on Zombo's site. We want to thank all the folks above for expressing an interest in our work, and giving us an opportunity to pursue our art. Thanks also, of course, to everyone who has purchased a copy of Untamed Highway. We appreciate all of your support! |
